Back in October, the NJ Safe Routes Scoop published an article about rail safety and the Operation Lifesaver education program. Operation Lifesaver promotes rail safety by giving presentations to students throughout New Jersey on the importance of crossing railroad tracks safely and trespass prevention activities.

Recently, NJDOT’s Safety Along Railroads Leadership Oversight Committee released New Jersey Safety along Railroads: Short-term Action Plan which explores options for future safety improvements.  In conjunction with the report, NJ Transit released the following video that highlights how to safely cross the tracks.
