Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grants fund non-traditional transportation projects like bicycle and pedestrian paths, preservation of historic canals, streetscaping, stormwater runoff management, and other projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic and environmental aspects of the nation’s intermodal system. TAP grants are federally funded and administered by the NJ Department of Transportation in partnership with the three metropolitan planning organizations (MPO) in NJ — North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO) and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC).
The NJ SRTS Resource Center provides information on TAP Grants, such as how to apply, a webinar, eligibility requirements, and a list of helpful resources. A SRTS Regional Coordinator can also provide application assistance. Missed the deadline? Sign up for our e-mail list to be in the loop for next application deadline.
During this past grant cycle, over $26.5 million in funding was awarded to 37 projects throughout New Jersey. Click to view each list of TAP winners from the NJDOT website: 2016 TAP winners from NJTPA region; 2016 TAP winners from SJTPO region; 2016 TAP winner from DVRPC region. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority also issued a press release.
