The weather is warming up, the days are getting longer, and NJ Walk and Bike to School Month is around the corner! This month-long celebration is the perfect opportunity to slough off the cold weather blues, get outdoors, and raise awareness about the benefits of walking and biking to school.

The NJ SRTS Resource Center encourages schools across the state to participate in Walk and Bike to School Month. There are plenty of ways to get involved, and we have everything you need to start!

Check out the resources on our website on everything from planning to publicizing an event. You can also contact your local Safe Routes to School Coordinator for more info and assistance.

Here are some examples of how your school can participate

Walking school bus

Groups of children walk a designated route to school and pick up kids along the way, supervised by crossing guards, police officers, parents, and teachers.

Bike rodeo

An event that teaches children bicycling safety as they visit different stations about biking rules, safety, and skills.
