The New Jersey Department of Transportation, the NJ Safe Routes Resource Center, and New Jersey’s eight Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) are pleased to announce the 2022 School and Municipal recipients of the NJ Safe Routes to School Recognition Program! These winners are recognized for their commitment and support of the Safe Routes program by enabling and encouraging walking and bicycling in their communities. Visit the NJ Safe Routes Resource Center website for a full list of all current winners.

There are four levels of the program, and each level signifies a school or municipality’s progress toward implementing and sustaining Safe Routes programs. Each year, schools and municipalities are nominated for recognition based upon their Safe Routes accomplishments related to the level of achievement. Recognition is valid for three years. Schools and municipalities that have earned NJ Safe Routes Recognition and are also enrolled in the Sustainable Jersey certification program can earn points for both programs. Congratulations and thank you to all of our municipals and school winners for making walking and bicycling to school a priority! If your school or municipality is interested in receiving recognition for their efforts, contact your SRTS Regional Coordinator to learn how.
