The Eldridge Park School in Lawrence Twp used a Sustainable Jersey for Schools grant to create Pedal Power, a bike to school program, to encourage kids to ride their bikes to school instead of being dropped off by a motor vehicle. The school installed new bike racks and ran a promotional campaign. In addition, realizing that some students did not own a bike or know how to ride one, the school purchased 4 bikes and helmets, and the PE teacher helped students learn how to ride!

NJ Safe Routes to School and Sustainable Jersey/Sustainable Jersey for Schools have a partnership that allows schools, school districts and municipalities to earn points toward both programs.  For more information, click here.
