For nearly fifteen years, the New Jersey Safe Routes Resource Center at the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University has led research and development of a statewide, comprehensive, and standardized Crossing Guard Training Program. Funded by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, and the Municipal Excess Liability Joint Insurance Fund of New Jersey (NJMEL), VTC continues to provide training and resources to crossing guards and their supervisors across the state.
