Have you ever wondered why a school might adopt a no bicycling rule? Or what a school’s responsibility is to its students after classes? Or how you could help a school implement a policy that supports active transportation? If so, join us for our upcoming “School Policies on Walking and Biking” webinar.

Supportive school walk and bike policies can make travel expectations safe and consistent throughout a school district and can help a district proactively assert its encouragement of active travel. As an advocate working to implement walk and bike events in local schools, you should know that school walk and bike policies can play a huge role in the success of your Safe Routes to School programs. This webinar gives some insight into perceptions that could lead a school to adopt restrictive policies on walking and biking and provides reasons a school should adopt supportive policies instead. It also outlines the components of a solid school walk and bike policy.

This webinar is hosted by the NJ Safe Routes to School Resource Center with funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). To hear the webinar, your computer must be able to play audio. For more information, email srts@ejb.rutgers.edu.
