Governor Christie declares April Walk and Bike to School Month in New Jersey!

Spring is on the way (hopefully), and April is an ideal time to reinvigorate your Safe Routes to School program!  Governor Christie has declared April Walk and Bike to School Month in New Jersey, signing a proclamation to encourage communities and schools to promote active and healthy lifestyles by walking and biking to school.

Students and parents all over New Jersey will be celebrating walk and bike to school month by participating in various Safe Routes to School events.  So far, the following April walk and bike to school events have been scheduled:

  • Netcong Elementary School in Netcong
  • West End School, East End School, Stony Brook School, and Somerset School in North Plainfield
  • Grant Elementary School, Paul Robeson Elementary School, and Martin Luther King Elementary in Trenton
  • Riverside Elementary in Princeton
  • Stockton Borough School in Stockton
  • Frenchtown Elementary School in Frenchtown
  • Califon Public School in Califon
  • Sacred Heart School in Mount Holly
  • Oak Knoll Elementary and Oak Ridge Heights School in Woodbridge
  • Lambertville Public School in Lambertville
  • Hampton Public School in Hampton
  • Allen W. Roberts School in New Providence
  • Bartle Elementary School and Irving Primary School in Highland Park
  • Campbell Elementary School in Metuchen
  • Raritan Bay Area YMCA in Perth Amboy
