On Thursdays during the month of September 2022, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) sponsored the 2022 New Jersey Safe Routes to School Academy. Featuring four panel sessions over the course of the month, the free, virtual Academy celebrated New Jersey’s expanding and engaging programs with Safe Routes to School throughout the State.

The Academy covered a range of topics, including how towns can test pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements through temporary demonstration projects, prioritize safety through conducting walkability & bikeability assessments, TA-Set Aside Program information, and ways to develop school travel plans in an effort to make walking and bicycling safer.
