KaBOOM!, in partnership with Dr. Pepper Snapple, is accepting applications for grants to be used toward the purchase of playground equipment. To be eligible for a Let’s Play Community Construction grant, playgrounds must be assembled using the KaBOOM! community-build model, and progress must be documented through KaBOOM!’s Our Dream Playground project planner.

Municipalities and child-serving organizations without a playground or with existing equipment that is unsafe for children are eligible for this opportunity. The grant cannot be used to add equipment to an existing playground.

The program provides a $15,000 grant award that must be applied toward the purchase of equipment from a KaBOOM! preferred vendor; access to valuable planning tools on the Our Dream Playground Web site; opportunity to receive one-on-one planning support from KaBOOM! alumni; and post-build access to the KaBOOM! Alumni Network, through which grantees may apply for additional grants to maintain and/or expand their playspace, as well as opportunities to learn more about the state of play in the United States.

Applicants must own the land on which the playground is built or have permission to build there, spend $24,000 to $40,000 on playground equipment, agree to finish the project within twelve months of the grant award, and serve a low-income population.

Complete grant application guidelines are available on the KaBOOM! Web site.
